Learn how to craft beautiful and useful hand brooms in this fun, accessible, hands-on class! All around the world brooms are being used for the daily and ritual cleansing of our homes, work and sacred spaces. In our modern industrialized world traditional handcrafts of all kinds are being replaced by machine made goods and the broom is no exception. Handcrafted brooms are on the brink of extinction. As part of THE ARTS & CRAFTS MOVEMENT SERIES Stephanie Brown of La Negra Brooms will teach you the ins and outs on how to weave your very own turkey wing hand broom to use at home or give as a special gift.

No experience necessary, although some manual dexterity is required. All tools and materials will be provided so need to bring anything but your creative enthusiasm!

Join us for an exciting hands-on workshop where you'll design and construct your very own leather belt from start to finish.

Whether you're looking to pick up a new skill or desiring a custom belt to complement your wardrobe, this workshop is for you. Jennifer Laursen of Vallejo’s own TILT Leather will guide you through all the steps to crafting leather belts.

You’ll learn how to properly measure for a belt, cut straps, use design and alphabet stamps, dye and assemble your belt.

A buckle is provided for you in class, but if you have something special bring it along! We also have an array of vintage buckles available to shop at The Joint if you so desire :)

If you plan on making a belt for someone else, make sure you get a waist measurement before class! (men’s pant size is not actual waist size, so grab a tape measure ;) )
